Review waves

# A sudden wave of negative reviews? Start by checking what changed.

We treat the wave as one incident, help your team coordinate replies and, on Google and Trustpilot, assess each review against the rules. Save the links and dates now. A wave is a signal to check, not proof of an attack, because similar wording or timing can have an innocent cause. The platform makes the final decision.

## What to do first

### Preserve the original evidence

Reviews can change, so list each one now with its link, date, rating and the name shown. Note when the spike began and where the same wording repeats. Compare the affected locations and look for independent evidence before you make any claim.

### Separate complaints from possible rule breaks

A real outage, a bad delivery week or a news story can bring many genuine complaints at once. Those deserve a fair answer. Only reviews that may break a specific rule belong in a report.

### Coordinate your replies

One person should own the response so that branches do not contradict each other. You get reply drafts to approve, and everyone works from the same list.

### Hand us the wave as one incident

On a monthly plan, a wave is included as one incident and never charged per review.

## Evidence worth collecting

- A list of the reviews with links, dates and ratings
- Screenshots, in case the text changes
- When the spike started and which locations it hit
- Anything that happened around that time, such as an outage or a news story
- Any demand for money, with the original messages

## What you can rely on

- Each review is assessed and reported on its own facts, which keeps you clear of mass flagging.
- We call a wave an attack only when the evidence supports it.
- Our promise is a fair look at every review. Genuine complaints stay and deserve an answer, and we help you give one.
- We work only with your records and the platform’s own tools, and we leave reviewers alone.

## Common questions

### Does a burst of similar reviews prove an attack?

No. It is a reason to investigate. Google removes unusual volumes or patterns meant to shift a rating, but many real customers can also complain about one real problem.

### Should I report them all at once?

No. Mass flagging can count against you. Each report should stand on its own rule and its own evidence.

### Someone wants money to stop the reviews. What now?

Do not pay or negotiate. Save every message and use Google’s official route for extortion. Our page on review extortion explains what to keep.
